COL MORRIS A. BROWN, JR

Colonel Morris A. Brown, Jr. is a native of Louisiana and was raised in Texas where he enlisted as an Ordnance Soldier following high school completion in 1995. He proudly rose to the NCO ranks and later received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps upon graduation from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School in 2003.

In 2004 COL Brown was assigned to the 61st Ordnance Brigade in Aberdeen, Maryland. There he served as the Executive Officer of A & B Companies, and subsequently as the Battalion Logistics Officer (S4) for the 143rd Ordnance Battalion in Edgewood, Maryland.

COL Brown deployed to Iraq in 2007 as a Military Transition Team (MiTT) Headquarters Service Company & Logistics Advisor in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Multinational Division- North. Upon redeployment in 2008 he was assigned to the 377th Theater Sustainment Command in New Orleans, Louisiana as the G4 Supply and Services OIC, where he deployed to Haiti in 2010 in support of OPERATION UNIFIED RESPONSE.

COL Brown commanded Bravo Company, 125th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas from 2011-12, where they deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM XII. He subsequently served as the 3rd Brigade Logistics Officer (S4) in 2012. He was then assigned as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G4 for the 20th CBRNE Command in Edgewood, Maryland 2012-14.

COL Brown was assigned to Fort Lee, Virginia following completion of the Command and General Staff College in 2014. There he served as the Executive Officer for the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade's 244th and 262nd Quartermaster Battalions, then subsequently as the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade Operations and Intelligence Officer (S2/S3) from 2015-17. He then served as the Executive Officer to the 40th Chief of Ordnance and Commandant, U.S. Army Ordnance School from 2017-18. He then was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J7, Deployable Training Division in Suffolk, VA from 2018-2020 as a Joint Exercises Observer/Trainer, Lead Planner, and CAPSTONE seminar facilitator.

COL Brown commanded the 3rd Brigade Support Battalion, 1ABCT, 3ID, Fort Stewart, GA (June 2020 - June 2022) where he completed a rotational deployment to Korea (2020-21) and a short-notice deployment to Germany (2022) in support of OPERATION EUROPEAN ASSURE, DETER AND REINFORCE. He then served as the 3rd Infantry Division Chief of Sustainment (ACoS, G4) from June 2022- June 2023, before his most recent assignment as a Logistics Colonels' Human Resource Manager and Sustainment Bunker Chief in the Senior Leader Division - Colonels Management Office (SLD-COMO) in Fort Knox, KY (July 2023 - June 2025). Prior to serving in his current role as the Assistant Commandant for the US Army Transportation School, he attended the Army War College as a Fellow at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA (2025-2026).

COL Brown's operational experience includes Bosnia-Herzegovina, in support of OPERATION JOINT ENDEAVOR, 1996; Taszar, Hungary, in support of OPERATION JOINT GUARD, 1997; Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, 2007-08; Port Au Prince, Haiti, in support of OPERATION UNIFIED RESPONSE, 2010; Afghanistan, in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, 2011-12; Korea RAF, 2020-21; and Germany, in support of OPERATION EUROPEAN ASSURE, DETER AND REINFORCE, 2022.

His professional military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captain Career Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Joint Operational Contract Support Planning and Execution Course (JOPEC), Joint Logistics Course, Joint Humanitarian Operations Course (JHOC), the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS), and the Army War College. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology and is recognized by the International Society of Logistics (SOLE) as a Demonstrated Master Logistician.

COL Brown's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with silver and gold oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 4 oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 oak leaf clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, and the Combat Action Badge.
