Artifact of the Month
Colonel Selby F. Little began his career in the military as an enlisted soldier during World War I, joining on January 5, 1918. At the end of the war, he separated from the Army and immediately became a cadet at West Point. He graduated in 1921 and was assigned to the Field Artillery. This bag, manufactured in 1918, was given to him soon after.
His assignments included the 11th, 18th, 17th, and 33rd Field Artillery Batteries. After rising to Artillery battalion commander, Col. Little was assigned to the Army Service Forces, of which Transportation was a part, during World War II and served there for three years. He returned to the Artillery following the war and retired from the Army in 1953.
