Colonel Susan R. Sowers graduated the United States Military Academy in 1982, receiving her commission as a second lieutenant.

She commanded the 260th Transportation Detachment, 497th Transportation Company, 80th Corps Support Battalion, and 37th Transportation Group.Her overseas deployments include Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Other key assignments include Staff Officer, National Military Command Center’ Executive Officer, Army, DCSLOG/G-4; and Chief of Staff, 3rd Corps Support Command. She retired in 2007, having completed 25 year of service.

Upon retirement she entered the seminary and was ordained in 2010. She currently serves as Rector at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Pensacola, Florida.

Her decorations include: Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
