Command Sergeant Major Kwame A. Pettus enlisted in the Army in 1992 as a Motor Vehicle Operator, MOS 88M.
Over his 30 year career, he deployed to Bosnia (IFOR/SFOR), Egypt (Bright Star), Somalia (Operation Restore Hope), and Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom). His key assignments included Squad Leader/HET Operator, 11th Transportation Company, Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division; Brigade Senior Transportation Manager, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade; Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 188th Brigade Support Battalion, 18th Fires Brigade; and TC Proponent SGM, Office of the Chief of Transportation.
His decorations include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one Silver and three Oak Leaf Clusters. He is authorized to wear the Master arachutist Badge, Combat Action Badge, and Driver’s Badge. He is an inductee in the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
