The U.S. Army Transportation School headquartered at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA is the Army’s premier training activity for Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Transportation Soldiers in addition to creating and providing input into the Professional Military Education (PME) for Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs), Warrant Officers (WOs), and Officers. The Transportation School is a One Army School System (OASS) geographically dispersed between three primary training locations: Fort Gregg-Adams, VA, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA, and Fort Leonard Wood, MO that produces highly-skilled, adaptable, and resilient Soldiers capable of conducting large scale deployment operations, and sustaining the warfighter in a multi-domain environment. The Transportation School simultaneously participates in and integrates with Army Futures Command and the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) to identify and solve Army problems related to transportation, distribution, and sustainment through a comprehensive modernization strategy that leverages commercial industry’s most advanced technology.
Execute Transportation Corps Officer, Warrant Officer, and Enlisted personnel development actions to support the eight life-cycle management functions. Coordinate personnel management policies and force structure actions for the total Transportation Force across Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P).
Ensures the Reserve Component (USAR and ARNG) perspectives are fully integrated in the development of emerging doctrine, leader development, and force structure impacting the manning, equipping, training, readiness, and daployability of Reserve Component Transportation Units and Soldiers. Provides the Chief of Transportation timely and accurate perspectives on personnel, equipment, training, and deployment issues that pertain to the Reserve Component Transportation Community.
Oversees and Coordinates training, administrative, and logistical support across all Transportation School locations. Consists of two offices: Principal Office at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA and a cell at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA, supporting the Maritime and Intermodal Training Department (MITD)
Responsible for all Active and Reserve (USAR & ARNG) Component individual (MOS) training development (TD) products (Resident/Distance Learning (DL), Functional Courses) and associated training materials, in support of the Transportation Corps School (TCS) institutional training requirements (to include Reserve Training Sites & FORSCOM Troop Schools) and Operational Force MOS Training Support Packages (as required).
Provides instruction on strategic and operational movement processes, procedures, and systems used for deployment and distribution through fucntional courses and Advance Individual Training (AIT). Areas include sustainment planning and processes, movement control, distrubution management, and asset management. Train Soldiers, Civilians, and members of other Services and nations in skills and functions associated with strategic and operational level movement supporting the Defense Transportation System. Manages, conducts, and evaluates assigned courses. Monitors the technical sequencing, scope, and changes to Programs of Instruction (POI) and instructional materials; monitors maintenance of training facilities and operational status of training equipment. Develops training strategies, goals, and objectives in related technical areas. The Transportation Management Training Department consists of the Movement Management Branch and 88N AIT Branch.
Executes lead responsibilities for a uniform driver taining policy throughout the U.S. Army. Advises the Chief of Transportation on all aspects of motor wheeled vehicle driver training. Provides critical operatior/driver tasks, conditions, and standards to U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). Serves as the Army Driver and operator Standardization Program (selection, training, testing, and licensing) and lead for the Army Driver Training Strategy and the master Driver Trainer's Program.
Provides professional civilian and military cadre to train Regular Army (RA), United States Army Reserve (USAR), and Army National Guard (ARNG) Soldiers for the 88M Military Occupational Specialist (MOS) in order to set a foundation for and develop wheeled-vehicle tactical and technical competencies.
The Maritime and Intermodal Training Department provides maritime operations and engineering, cargo handling, and rail/locomotive training employing instructional and facilitated classroom, hands-on, simulations and live equipment training techniques and capabilities. Executes Initial Military Training, Professional Military Education, and specialized functional certification and training for Army Enlisted, Warrant Officer, Civilian personnel, joint services uniformed and civilian members, and partner nations personnel with 27 programs of instruction providing the operational force with trained and ready personnel.
